Last night, on the hottest day of the year so far, the ladies team lined out at Turn Moss for their first Junior League game of the year. Against local rivals Oisins, the girls were intent on sparking a strong defence of last year’s League trophy...

Both teams started with a point each not long after throw-in and hard battles were fought all over the pitch from then on. Whilst Oisins were content with taking their points, the Lawrence’s forwards were all about the goals, Niamh Nolan and Roisin Cassidy finding the back of the opposition net 4 times - with some absolute screamers!

A new back line led by Elaine Shannon had their work cut out for them, but tireless shifts from everyone - particularly Derry’s Mary Deery - ensured Oisin’s points tally couldn’t surpass the goals racked up at the other end.

A well earned win in their first Junior League match will hopefully continue to build confidence in a newly acquainted squad and see them kick on with further success in the Lancashire Junior League.
