Firstly, a huge thankyou to all that have entered in to our Euro24 Predictor Competition! Not only are you in with the chance of winning a super cash prize or a hotel stay with dinner but you are also supporting St Lawrence’s Youth Gaelic Football teams here in Manchester and it is very much appreciated.
We had 112 entrants in total, meaning we have £560 in the Prize fund to be distributed amongst the top 3 places come the end of the tournament.
Now that the Group Stage has finished we can see that 4 of the 6 groups ended up with what you might call a predictable winner, Germany, Spain, England and Portugal and just Groups D&E, whose winners were Austria and Romania being shock group winners. Not one of our 112 entrants predicted Groups D or E correctly, so no one has managed to get the bonus 25 points for predicting all 6 groups correctly. 63 entrants did however manage to predict the other groups correctly and are currently sat on 40 points.
So far there have been 81 goals scored in the 36 group games (2.25 goals per game) with 15 games remaining. 16 entrants predicted 81 goals or lower in the whole tournament and so they are no longer in with a shout of picking up the 50 points awarded for correctly predicting the total goals scored in the tournament.
Georges Mikautadze is the tournament's current top scorer on 3 goals. You’ve guessed it, not one of our 112 entrants selected Georges to be the Golden Boot Winner! But of course there is still plenty of football to be played and this can all change.
We’ll come back to you with another update once the knockout stages are coming to an end and we have an idea of who the Euro24 finalists might be and who is on track to secure the Golden Boot.
Thanks once again for your support and best of luck with your predictions!
